Dévorées dans l'intimité, les séries révèlent nos désirs, nos peurs les plus profondes, nos fantasmes et nos tabous. Grâce à la mutliplication des personnages de femmes complexes depuis les années 2000, les séries mettent en scène des sexualités féminines qui évoluent sans cesse. De Sex and the City, Friends et Buffy à Girls, Masters of Sex, Orange is the New Black ou bien Transparent, elles osent enfin montrer ce dont nos sociétés occidentales ont encore parfois du mal à parler. De la morsure de vampire au cunnilingus, de la défloration au BDSM, Sex and the Series s'empare d'images marquantes pour interroger certains concepts comme le male gaze ou la capacité d'agir et met en perspective la représentation de l'orgasme féminin, du consentement ou encore de la lesbienne butch. A travers quatre thématiques - la parole, le plaisir, les violences et les sexualités queer - Iris Brey analyse comment les séries américaines, en s'éloignant des images du porno et du cinéma, permettent de changer notre perception des sexualités et d'enclencher même une révolution télévisuelle

This paper offers insights into how the teaching of queer topics in English language arts classes can be reframed by bridging the goals, practices and conceptual tools of queer theory to literacy teaching. Drawing on an ethnographic classroom study, which explored a 13-week high school Gay and Lesbian Literature course, this paper discusses how teaching an English literature curriculum centred on the voices and stories of LGBTQI people constitutes a meaningful site for learning and teaching. In the process, I show how a queer-themed literature curriculum not only intervenes disruptively into the heteronormative space of school through its content but also through pedagogical practices that open up new lines of thinking for understanding diverse sexualities and genders. Through vignettes from the classroom, I illustrate how queer moments were enacted in this high school course as the class (a) deconstructed literary and media texts; (b) used moments of discomfort for learning; (c) produced counter-narratives through creative acts; and (d) engaged in experiential learning activities that troubled commonsense understandings of sexuality, sex and gender. The paper aims to provide educators and administrators with ideas on how a comprehensive queer-inclusive English literature curriculum can be implemented in high schools.

Camp—a sensibility, a style, and a form of artistic selfexpression—is an elusive concept said to be in the eye of the beholder. To refute Susan Sontag’s (1966) claims that camp is apolitical and not especially homosexual, a number of recent scholarly works have been geared toward revealing camp’s fundamental gayness. With the odd footnote aside, lesbian camp has been collapsed into the category of gay male camp, if not eclipsed entirely. Despite the negligible efforts made to legitimize lesbian camp, there are numerous salient cultural examples one might draw on to illustrate, typify, and substantiate a lesbian camp sensibility. I lay the ground work for this scholarly exercise by outlining various definitions and critiques of camp, and by discussing its history and application to queer theory. Then, to unveil lesbian camp, three nonmutually exclusive categories are discussed: classic, erotic, and radical. By gathering various strands of inquiry, and various textual examples (e.g., photography, artistic performances, and literary tropes), this article attempts to reach a more inclusive and nuanced understanding of lesbian camp.
